The 2005 Ford Mustang GT (Gen. 5) was first introduced at the 2004 North American International Auto Show. Ford's design of the fifth generation Mustang was mainly inspired by the first model generation and the 2003 Mustang Concept. The GT is powered by a 4.6L SOHC Modular V8 with 300 hp. In 2010, the Mustang GT received a facelift. The year after, Ford gave it a new engine. This was the 5.0 litre V8 engine nicknamed "Coyote". The Mustang GT was sold as a performance model alongside the supercar-rivalling Shelby GT500.
